A divine revelation...
The fourth addition to the San Cristobal line is the Revelation. In a matter of a few years, this brand has swiftly proven their worth and built up a solid and enduring fan base. They have been in the game for less than a decade, but one taste of their cigars and you’ll quickly see why they have become one of the most popular boutiques out there.
These dependable handmades are constructed in Nicaragua, under the benevolent watch of Jose “Pepin” Garcia. San Cristobal Revelation does what the name implies....it reveals itself, slowly and enticingly. Underneath a sleek milk chocolate Ecuador Sumatra wrapper awaits a hand-selected blend of Nicaraguan long-fillers. The combination is medium to full-bodied, and gently unveils a bold flavor profile with notes of earth, leather, cedar, nuts, and spice that envelop the palate deliciously.
San Cristobal Revelation received a well deserved 92-rating! Here's what the experts had to say: "First puffs of this streaky, box-pressed cigar are rich and sweet with cocoa. An underlying earthiness complements the vanilla-bean finish.."
Coming at you today with more of a newer brand is the San Cristobal Revelation. The Revelation has been a cigar I have been aware of for quite a while, and I remember being gifted a few of these on Christmas Day a few years ago. After a few days and certainly by New Year's Day, they were completely gone; I had smoked all of them. I do remember them being good, but strong, which at the time wasn't really my jam. Seven years later, I wanted to try them again now that I have become a bit more well-versed on what makes a cigar good, and my visit back with the Revelation was one I'll have to schedule into my calendar much more often.
The San Cristobal is one really tasty Domincan cigar. Anyone who has read the blog for the past few months obviously knows that Dominican cigars are my favorite, and if we are being honest, I had no idea this cigar was from the DR until I tasted it. Upon tasting it, it was readily apparent which region this one had come from. It is delicious and there is a ton of toasty warmth and leather to it, which to me, is a trademark of the region as a whole. For a Sumatra wrapper, this one is pretty mild compared to most, and I don't get too much spice from this cigar compared to other darker-wrapped Dominican offerings. This cigar gives you all of the wood, nut, leather and cinnamon you can handle, and it is a brilliant blend of each one. I loved it for it's warmth, aromatic smoke and woodiness all the way to the nub.
This cigar maintains a consistent level of strength throughout the entire smoke that I found more than palatable. It will score a 4/5 on most review sites, and I'd probably place it slightly below a 4/5. It wasn't too much to handle by any stretch at all, and I'd call it a delicious medium body cigar. For those of you out there who love an extremely flavorful Dominican cigar, I'd give this one a try if you see it. I had a Robusto myself, and it ended up giving me so much flavor for such a small size. The burn was consistent, the draw was creamy and thick, and the flavor of this cigar checked all of my boxes when it comes to what I need to experience to endorse a cigar to most anyone. Give it a try, it's delicious.
Happy smoking! CB
