Tradition meets value.
For over 100 years, the J.C. Newman Cigar Co. has perfected their craft of superior cigar-making. With roots this deep, they’ve learned a thing or three about delivering high-quality blends at a fair price point. This talent was put on full display through Brick House. Seemingly overnight, Brick House became one of America’s most popular cigars.
Now, the next edition of Brick House has arrived — an even more economical option that’s born to satisfy. Hugged by a silky, Sun Grown Sumatra wrapper, Brick House Fumas feature a ‘Cuban sandwich’ blend of aged Nicaraguan tobaccos to deliver an incredibly smooth, yet eventful experience. Simply put, the same flavors, quality and consistency that made Brick House a household name, smothered in value-enhanced goodness. Even more simply put: you’ll love ‘em…you’ll love the price…and you’ll love burning these one after the other — early, often, affordably.
The search for the daily cigar continues, and today, this endless pursuit has brought me to the Brick House.
I saw a really good deal on these cigars, and I've always known Brick House to be a solid, if not spectacular, brand in the cigar industry. I have one every now and then when I don't feel like spending a lot of money, yet having a consistent and reliable smoke. Brick House cigars are cigars that I don't really get excited about smoking and don't mind throwing away or giving to people who ask me for smokes. Not a real glowing endorsement, I know. However, the thing I love about Brick House is how affordable their cigars are, and also how consistent they are. It's really hard to find a budget smoke that has good flavor, a big following, and is just consistently built well and preserved well. For just under 4 dollars per cigar for these HUGE Robustos, I figured I would dive in and try them out. I knew, at the very least, I would have a few for dog walks and abbreviated smoking sessions in my new house.
This cigar smoked pretty fast, which is sort of what I was looking for, if I'm being honest. I had this cigar on a sunny Saturday afternoon with a homemade iced coffee. There was some wind out, but the cigar lit easily, however the burn was not the most even burn I've ever had. This cigar required some touching up and maintenance as I smoked it, but it wasn't anything too out of the ordinary, as far as touch-ups go. I would say that the predominant flavor on this cigar was a vanilla/cream sort of flavor, with very light pepper behind it. It went pretty well with the coffee, and it smoked completely in just about an hour. Ash flew off if the cigar caught the wind in a rough way, but this would be expected from any cigar.
One thing that sticks out about this cigar is the label. The label is very hard to remove. It's glued to the cigar at times and that becomes very problematic when it comes time to remove the band. You risk pulling off some wrapper and having the whole cigar explode during these times, so make sure to pay attention and be a bit delicate when it comes time to remove the band. Outside of that, I didn't have any real complaints with this cigar, but it didn't wow me. This cigar is best described, simply, as a cigar. There was nothing awesome about it. The flavor was decent. The construction was fine. Nothing it did really wowed me, but for under 4 dollars a cigar, it's definitely something to carry around to fire up when you have a few minutes and don't care about finishing it. For it's intended purpose, this cigar does the job.
As far as my search goes for the daily cigar, it will continue. I'm just not impressed by this one, to be honest. I wish there was something I could point out about this one that I really liked, but it's just, very simply, a cheap cigar good for doing tasks around the house or other activities. It was simply decent. You don't need to rush out and get this one. If you're an everyday smoker, this might be a good choice for you if you like a cheap, yet well-built and reputable daily smoke. If you want a cigar experience, look elsewhere. You won't be disappointed by it, but you won't be too impressed.
Skip it.
Happy smoking!
